From Diet Burnout to Breakthrough: Olympic Lifter - Kristen Dudley’s CBG Journey
Kristen Dudley had tried everything.
She tried the Paleo diet. She tried counting calories. She even tried HCD drops to lose weight. And, of course, she dabbled with tracking her macros at one point, but “I could never sustain it,” she said.
“I would always get burnt out so quickly and would give up.”
She followed CBG on Instagram for inspiration, for her journey and CBG became her solution. Dudley realized that what they were doing sounded interesting “and different than anything I had done in the past,” she said.
Months later, Dudley, an experienced competitive Olympic weightlifter, decided to take the plunge and was teamed up with CBG Coach, Paige Allert.
16 Weeks Later
Going into CBG’s 16-week program, 31-year-old Dudley’s main goal was fat loss.
Four months later, not only did she lose 18 pounds, she has added muscle and has become stronger! She is adamant that’s just the start of what she has taken away from working out with Allert!
“I have definitely lost a lot of fat and built muscle, and I have hit PR after PR after PR, and my energy levels have skyrocketed. My energy levels are out of the roof. That was one of the biggest changes I noticed at the beginning,” she said, adding that her five rep max back squat has now eclipsed her former one-rep max.
For Dudley, it kind of feels like “there’s no limit” as to what she can do now, she explained.
“I feel way better during workouts, especially being an Olympic weightlifter, I have really long sessions, and before I started working [with Allert] I would always crash or start getting really light headed halfway through, and that doesn’t happen any longer, so I feel a lot more fueled throughout my workouts.”
Dudley credits this to the CBG blueprint approach, which actually has her eating more than she used to.
“I eat way more now than I probably ever have in my life. I used to live on protein bars and protein shakes.”
Today, 99 percent of what she eats are whole foods. Dudley estimates she eats around 2,400 calories a day and Allert has also taught her the importance of meal timing.
“I never knew anything about nutrient timing before working with Paige. And now, what I eat right before a workout and right after looks very different [than before]. I eat a ton of carbs right before, and a ton of carbs right after…And I think that was a big [reason why] my energy levels throughout my training sessions have increased a ton.”
More than anything, Dudley can now confidently say her entire relationship with food has benefited. This has made a huge difference in her stress levels and her entire life.
“I have experienced more freedom around nutrition mentally… I have gotten to the point now that I don’t really have to think about what I’m doing anymore. It has become a way of life and it has taken away all the stress around thinking about food…and I actually enjoy it now.”
Dudley’s Message: Don’t Wait to Turn to CBG, CBG Works!
Dudley said she would recommend CBG to “any person on this entire planet,” not only for helping with nutrition education and physical goals, but also because of how it can transform your entire life.
“When I first came into the program, I definitely came in with physical goals. I wanted to see fat loss and I wanted to look good. That, at this point, has become such a bi-product. That’s a huge added bonus, but what I have gained out of this program has changed every aspect of my life well beyond just the nutrition side of things.”
Specifically, she has learned to accept and appreciate the long road.
“I can be a very much an all or nothing person. When I want to go somewhere… I just want to get there as fast as possible. But what I have learned with the [CBG] program is if you actually want things to be sustainable and lifelong, you need to implement things slowly and over time,” she said, adding that this mindset has also helped her as a weightlifter.
The best part is, the CBG approach hasn’t been difficult.
“The blueprint method was the simplest thing I have ever done, and the way Paige explained it just made it very very easy and simple.”
She added: “I plan on doing this for the rest of my life… because it’s that easy. I have never seen results from anything else I have tried like the results that I’m getting now.”
